Apply to Be a Visiting Artist at Queenston Pottery
Queenston Pottery’s Visiting Artist Program offers artists the opportunity to exhibit their work in our Niagara-on-the-Lake gallery, connect with the community, and grow their audience.
Each residency includes a 5-6 week exhibition, a dedicated “Meet the Artist” day with a reception, and collaborative promotion across our networks. With a supportive team, professional presentation, and a warm community atmosphere, this program is designed to showcase your art and help you build lasting connections.
Program Details
Location: Queenston Pottery Gallery at 1648 York Road, Niagara-on-the-Lake
Duration: Exhibitions run for 5-6 weeks, beginning on a Thursday and concluding on a Monday.
Setup: Tuesday or Wednesday prior to opening, between 2:00-4:00 PM
Take-down: Tuesday or Wednesday, between 2:00-4:00 PM

Promotion
Shared marketing through Queenston Pottery and the artist’s email and social media netowork
Meet the Artist Day
A reception hosted by Queenston Pottery, including wine, light refreshments, and the opportunity to give a talk or demonstration.
Artist Profile Display
A professionally designed “About Me” poster to highlight your journey and creative practice.
Commission on Sales
Artists retain 70% of sales, with 30% supporting the program and gallery operations.
Promotions & Events
Artist Profile Display
Each artist will be introduced through a professionally designed ‘About the Artist’ feature, presented in the gallery.
Social Media , Email & Newspaper
Promotion shared across both Queenston Pottery and artist networks, including Instagram, Facebook, and the Lake Report.
Meet The Artist Day
Invite family, friends, and the community for a gathering celebrating your work.
Financials & Commission
Participation Cost: $300 + GST
This fee covers:
Advertising in the Lake Report
Hosting of the reception
Display of work in the gallery
Creation of the Artist Profile display
On line & social media promotions
Sales and Commissions:
Artists receive 70% of sales and commissions sold at Queenston Pottery
GST is collected per Canadian tax law
Artwork Requirements
Certificate of Authenticity securely attached to the back of each piece of art
Hanging Hardware: D-clips and sturdy wire (no eye hooks)
Framing: Frames must be secure and in good condition
Commitment: Work should remain on display for the full duration. If a piece sells, please replace it with another of a similar size.
Art Labels: Must include artist name, title, medium, dimensions, and price (template provided)
Policies & Waiver
Artists sign a waiver releasing Queenston Pottery of liability in the case of loss, theft, or damage.
Our commission policy applies to any work sold or commissioned as a direct result of the residency.

We welcome artists working in all mediums to apply for the program.
