Discover the Magic of Making Pottery: A 3-Session Hands-On Journey

Explore the Potter’s Wheel and Learn the Art of Jiggering with the Queenston Pottery Team

Step inside our historic Niagara-on-the-Lake studio and immerse yourself in the joy, challenge, and creativity of working with clay. This intimate 3-session workshop (limited to just 6 participants) invites you to learn real production pottery skills, guided by throwing instructor Candice Boese and the experienced Queenston Pottery team.

Whether you’re brand new to clay or eager to explore deeper techniques, this experience blends learning, artistry, and community in a warm, inspiring studio with 47 years of pottery tradition.

What You’ll Experience

Across three fun, skill-building sessions, you’ll try your hand at a wide variety of techniques used to create the pieces sold in our gallery. Some skills are quick wins; others take practice, but all are rewarding and uniquely satisfying.

You’ll get to:

  • Throw on one of our four potter’s wheels

  • Jigger your own cups using plaster-assisted forms

  • Trim your thrown and jiggered pieces and choose how to finish them:

    • Carve a jiggered form into a candle holder

    • Pull and attach handles to create a mug

    • Shape a functional spout and turn your form into a pitcher

  • Glaze your pieces using dipping, brushwork, pigments, and overglaze decoration

By the end, you’ll walk away with four personally designed and professionally fired pieces, and the confidence that comes from learning many of the foundational skills of studio pottery.
