In-School Clay Sculpting Experience
Bring the Magic of the Pottery Studio Directly to Your Classroom
Looking for a unique, memorable way to enrich your school’s art curriculum or after-school programming?
Queenston Pottery is packing up the studio and coming to you!
We bring our immersive, hands-on Clay Sculpting Workshop right into your classroom. It’s an engaging, creative experience that blends tactile art, storytelling, and science into a project students will treasure forever.
The Project:
Expressive Character Cups
Each student will receive a premium, "leather-hard" clay cup crafted in our studio. This partially dried stoneware serves as the perfect canvas for their imagination!
Under the expert guidance of our instructors, students will learn specialized sculpting techniques to transform their cup by adding expressive faces, whimsical characters, or unique architectural designs.
This in-school clay sculpting experience is perfect for:
In-School: Art Curriculum Enrichment
After-School: Programs & Creative Clubs
Ages: Designed beautifully for ages 12 and older
(our standard program is designed for middle school and up)
Note for Junior Creators: We absolutely welcome younger groups aged 8 to 12! For this age bracket, we ask that your school team provide a little extra hands-on supervision to help us support the students as they sculpt.
What’s Included in the Experience?
An Engaging Educational Presentation:
Geared specifically to your students' age group (whether they are 8, 12, or 15!). We explore the fascinating world of pottery-making, showing students exactly how art, material science, and kiln technology come together to create functional stoneware.
Premium Materials & Tools:
One leather-hard stoneware cup per student, plus access to all the specialized professional sculpting tools required.
Expert Instruction:
Gentle, step-by-step guidance from our professional studio team to build confidence and unlock each student's inner artist.
Professional Finishing & Firing:
We carefully pack up the completed pieces, bring them back to our Niagara-on-the-Lake studio, and give them a professional clear glaze and two separate trips through our high-heat kilns.
Optional Follow-Up Glazing Session:
Want to turn this into a two-part art project? Choose our follow-up glazing option! We will perform the first “bisque” firing of your students' sculpted pieces, and return to your school to host a second hands-on workshop in which students select and apply colorful glazes and pigments to their pieces. Glazing sessions can be held between 3 to 12 weeks after the sculpting session.
