Elevate your Tuesday Nights with a Blend of Fine Art and Fine Wine.
Join us at Queenston Pottery for a sophisticated, three-session immersion into the world of figurative sculpture. Led by the acclaimed Marzi Alimo, this workshop invites you to experience the tactile, meditative experience of working with clay.
Whether you are a complete beginner or a returning artist, Marzi will guide you through the process of creating a stylized, character-based sculpture, from a whimsical garden figure to an expressive animal portrait.
The Social Experience
To complement your creative journey, each evening features local wine and light refreshments. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of our studio as you connect with fellow creators and find your flow.
The Three-Part Journey
The workshop is thoughtfully paced across three Tuesday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 pm to allow for professional drying and firing cycles:
Session 1, The Foundation: Designing, Building, Shaping, and Assembling: Design and structural build. Learn foundational hand-building techniques, pinching, coiling, and slab-building, to establish the core of your character.
Session 2, The Art of Detail: Refining, Hollowing, and Detailing (One week later): Refine, hollow, and vent your piece for the kiln. Explore specialized texture-making tools to add life, personality, and expressive surface details to your work.
Session 3, The Final Touch: Glazing (Three weeks later): After your piece has been bisque-fired, return for an evening of glazing. Experiment with Queenston Pottery’s professional glazes and pigments to bring vibrant color and finish to your sculpture.
