Visiting Artist Program Featuring Julie Forrester Clark
On Exhibit Now at Queenston Pottery
We are thrilled to welcome Julie Forrester Clark to Queenston Pottery as part of our Visiting Artist Program—an ongoing celebration of creativity and artistic diversity. Julie's work brings a sense of wonder, nostalgia, and environmental appreciation through her richly textured, semi-abstract acrylic paintings.
About the Artist
Julie Forrester Clark is a Canadian artist whose work is deeply influenced by her love of nature, particularly the dramatic Scottish coastlines and lush gardens that evoke a sense of "Cianalas"—a Scottish-Gaelic term describing a profound longing for a place. Her art is a visual love letter to the natural world, inspiring viewers to connect with, appreciate, and protect the environment.
Her intuitive process involves building up layers of acrylic paint using brayers, catalyst wedges, and found objects. Each piece is enhanced with techniques like scratching, sanding, glazing, and mark-making with pencil and ink—resulting in deeply expressive, multi-dimensional compositions.
